4th May 2016
Groet

Skip says I must include the temperatures so, night time low 3.5 and 20 during the day.

We had a morning of chores, starting with laundry at 8.30. A wash and dry, including soap, is 6 euros. Clive had to phone my mother´s TV provider in Cyprus first thing to sort of why her TV had gone out on the island. Gunther had done sterling work trying to sort it out but it had to be done at base. Phew, it´s working again. BIG THANKS Gunther.

I decided to make use of the nearby showers. 50c for 5 minutes it said. Well, I had barely got the shampoo on when the water ran out. I had to dash across the lawn draped in a towel with soap in my eyes to get another coin off the boat. And all this before my coffee! Hhmph. Good thing our usual small towels were in the washing machine and I had taken one of the bigger ones into the shower block with me ;) . I nevertheless surprised a couple of dog walkers.

Skip decided it was the perfect spot to clean the side of the boat and put on the new name on the front.

                          New name on the side.

After an early sandwich we packed up the panniers with jackets, gloves, maps, camera, etc etc and headed into ..... the hills ..... can´t believe I´m saying that!

Just about the only hill in Holland and, of course, skip had to climb it. 180 Steps, in case you were wondering.

LOVE my bike!

Such a nice cycle path through the park. Woods and dunes. We came round a corner and found a charming cafe in a dell called the Bear´s Den.
"It´s a pity it´s too early for coffee." I said.
"It´s never too early for coffee!" Skip declared, so we stopped.

The Bear´s Den.

Pity he caught me with a mouthful of coffee.

What fun the ride was, pedal pedal pedal up the hills and SWOOOOOP down the other side. Blew my hat off though. It is Liberation Day here and a public holiday so there were lots of couples and families out enjoying the sunny day. We spotted quite a few people (usually of the older female variety) with wagons attached to their bicycles and small dogs sitting inside.

Most beach-goers arrive by bike.

These beach-side pavillions are every couple of kilometers...
...and they have appelgebak!

Halfway back we stopped again at a beach-side pavillion for another coffee break.

We did 25km, about the limit of the batteries. Braai again tonight...
